About Khaya
Khaya Ndlovu is an entrepreneur, director, choreographer, performer, qualified DanceCor teacher, storyteller, and founder of the Khayalethu Movement. She is also a founder and facilitator of Ubunye Kreatives an NPC that focuses on intersecting academic methodology with creative mythology assisting children to better their application in the schooling system and their everyday life. She has over 17 years of professional experience in the creative arts working for established companies and front leaders within the creative industry nationally and internationally such as Janice Honeyman, Dada Masilo, Napo Masheane, Kelsey Middleton and James Ngcobo. She has 10 years experience of teaching within Johannesburg studios f. Recently choreographed Peter Pan 2023 at the Joburg Theatre which was awarded best production. She has choreographed various works within professional platforms and some have been nominated for the Naledi awards 2021 and 2022, Winner of the 1min Film Festival in Istanbul 2021, Digital performances and workshops for US festivals and University Thesis studies and created art installations with renowned visual artists (The GreatJoy Ndlovu) within South Africa and social awareness campaigns (GBV Campaigns and Covid Pandemic with UJ Arts Centre). She choreographed and directed for an original South African musical ‘Hlakanyana’ produced by Madevu Entertainment and directed by Janice Honeyman at the UJ Arts Center, co-choreographed for the Joburg Theatre 60th Anniversary with James Ngcobo, and recently showcased her production ‘INWELE’ at Soweto Theatre for the HerStory International Theatre Festival 2022 and premiered on Ster-Kinekor screens for the South African 1 min Film Festival. And is currently the choreographer for Joburg Theatre’s Pantomime Beauty and The Beast 2024.
